Malaysia is a location for travellers looking for excitement as well as for those who wish to unwind. And with Malaysia vacation packages, you’ll go home happy and with plenty of tales to share with your loved ones. The cosmopolitan nature of Malaysia cannot be overlooked by anybody planning a vacation there. You get a sensory overload since there are so many amazing sights and a wide variety of foods here.

Malaysia arose from the Malay kingdoms, which were subject to the British Empire in the 18th century, along with the British Straits Settlements protectorate. During World War II, the Japanese Empire conquered British Malaya and other adjacent British and American possessions. Peninsular Malaysia was formed as the Malayan Union in 1946, and subsequently rebuilt as the Federation of Malaya in 1948, after three years of occupation. The nation gained independence on August 31, 1957. On September 16, 1963, independent Malaya merged with the then-British crown territories of North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore to become Malaysia. Singapore was removed from the federation and became a distinct sovereign country in August 1965.

Malaysians celebrate a variety of festivals and events all year long. Some are recognised by specific states, while others are officially declared public holidays. Many ethnic or religious groups observe other holidays, and the primary holiday of each significant group has been designated a public holiday. On August 31, Hari Merdeka (Independence Day), which honours the Federation of Malaya’s independence from Britain in 1957, is the most widely honoured national holiday. On September 16, Malaysia celebrates its federation in 1963. Labor Day (1 May) and the birthday of the King are two more noteworthy national holidays (first week of June).
